Learning The Hard Way edition by Connie Wilson Literature Fiction eBooks

C.M. Wilson has given her readers an honest account the trails and tribulations of teenage parenthood. This story is filled with real life situations and honest consequences for the characters' actions.

I could not help but fall in love with both D and Zane. Areyn is one of most most dealers 17 year olds that I have come across in a long time. This book gives an amazing account of what happens when children are forced (by their own actions) to grow up.

This story is not only entertaining but also a real cautionary tale with a happy ending to boot :) I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more by this author. I wish I could give this story more then just 5 stars!!

This book, written by a local Flint author, is awesome! I started reading it and could not put it down! Great characters, a compelling story and local places I recognized. I loved it - and you will too!
Very well written. I could not put it down. I'm orginally from the area and was excited to recognize the places and areas in the book. Can't wait to read more from the author.

This story takes place in Flint, Michigan which is very cool since I am from Michigan! The beginning was a little hard to follow at first. Once I got going and figured out who everyone was, I couldn't put this book down!

D'Angelo had to be my favorite character in this book. Although he did hold some information back, he was the most honest character and the most considerate. His baby momma Tyra treated him like crap, but he was the best dad to his son. He gave him everything he could even though he was a young dad at only 19. The news he got in the mail though was quite a surprise. That had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what the letter would contain!

Aeryn is the character that really learned her lesson in this story. She is a young mother. She had been hurt in the past and thought that by not revealing some things, she could make it all better later. Just when I thought the story would just do on and everyone would go the way they had planned, something shocking happened.

Great job to Connie Wilson on writing a story that totally engaged me and made me think. I went through a lot of emotions while I was reading this book too. I highly recommend this book!

This story takes place in Flint, Michigan. When I first started the book, I was a bit confused. I thought I would have a hard time following the story. Alot of characters and different stories. I kept at it and eventually I got into the flow of the story. I was glad I stayed with the book; I ended up enjoying t...he story.

Aeryn is a young, seventeen year old girl. She has two great friends who she adores, Aiden and Colby. She has a great father, Grant who supports her and a silly younger brother Ryder. Aeryn and Ryder are both being raised by their Dad; they lost their mother after Ryder was born. Aeryn is a normal teenager minus one exception. She is a seventeen year old single mother. She has a baby named Logan, his Dad is Zane. Zane, Aeryn and Aiden were childhood friends, and now life is completely different. Zane is an absentee Dad. (He said that being a father is too much like work) She is raising her son with the help of her Dad, and her friends are her support system. They of course know how to support her since they have a child together. Gabby. I found the relationship with Aeryn and Colby to be very nice, they supported each other and stuck by each other, when other friends turned away! They were both young mothers, and had each other's back. Aiden was a great friend and a wonderful father to his daughter, and great partner parent to Colby.

Aeryn goes out one night for a night of "normal" teenage fun. She meets D'Angelo. He is a sweet guy, who talks cars with her and treats her nice. They hit it off, but end up parting ways....she never calls him. Turns out he has a story of his own. Aeryn runs into him again when she goes to the Y for a Mommy and me swim class, which he happens to teach. Problem one...she does not tell him she is a Mommy. He neglects to tell her that his family is loaded because he is afraid of his past repeating. D'Angelo is in limbo..waiting on results about a certain little bullfrog named Jeremiah, while he tries to repair the damage to his heart. His ex Tyra used him and is now making him miserable. Jeremiah may or may not be his kid, and the struggle this man has trying to be a father is gut wrenching. He is a good man, well boy becoming a man. So we have one trying to figure out his life and one lying since she is sure her life is too complicated for him and it is just a fun summer thing. As you can imagine this is a powder keg waiting to explode.....

The relationship they have is nice; D is a gentleman and treats her with nothing but respect. He is good to Logan, although he thinks he is her baby brother....He has a scholarship to college for football, and he has plans for his life.

The story centers on their relationship and twists and turns. Somewhere in all of this our dear Zane learns to a man and father in a way I found impressive and he was not such a jerk. He actually does care about Aeryn and it is nice to see this. In the end he does what is right for her and their son. D'Angelo struggles with his life and the answers to his question, changes everything. What if this baby he has come to love is not his, can he handle this? What will that do to his heart? In the end it is a good love story, set in a very modern day theme and storyline. (I enjoyed the Baby Mamma, and slang that is used. it made the story current and relevant)It is never an issue with any of her friends or family that Aeryn and D'Angelo are an interracial couple. I was impressed with the lack of spelling issues in the book. Definite plus for a avid E-reader!

I would recommend this if you are in the mood for a modern day romance..You will laugh, want to cry, scream at them for making silly choices and be happy to take the ride with them. I look forward to reading more from Connie Wilson in the future and cannot wait to see where her writing takes us next.

Prepare to be sucked into the world of a 17 year-old single mother who is struggling to grow up while raising a baby she dearly loves. Along the way her life intertwines with D, a boy from "the other side of the tracks." Will they manage to make it work or is it splitsville for the couple?

Although the beginning was a bit confusing at first, the plot grabbed me and wouldn't let go. This book was a quick, easy read. Although the plot wasn't always light and fun, it gives a glimpse into what many teens face today. Have a few tissues handy - author Connie Wilson manages to pull at the heartstrings.
